Rev. Dr. David Stewart (MD, DMin) has been a part of the Kenwood family since 2001 when he came to the church as student from Chicago Theological Seminary (CTS). Prior to answering God’s call to ministry, Dr. Stewart had a twenty-year career as a family practice physician. Upon coming to the church, he co-founded the Norma Jean Sanders Free Clinic at Kenwood UCC where he continues to provide care to medically uninsured and under-insured people free of charge. Dr. Stewart graduated from CTS with the Master of Divinity degree in 2004 and with the Doctor of Ministry degree in 2010, focusing on the interaction of faith and health. He has served on the Adjunct Faculty of CTS, teaching courses in Faith and Health. He was ordained into the Christian Ministry by the United Church of Christ in March 2006, and was officially installed as an Associate Pastor at Kenwood in November of that year. Rev. Stewart is a leader of the 8 am worship service, including the Service of Healing and Anointing held at 8 am every fifth Sunday. He also teaches Sunday school, and assists the Senior Pastor in worship and in other duties as may arise. In the wider church, Rev. Stewart is the Moderator of the Chicago Metropolitan Association (CMA) of the UCC for 2017-18, serves on the CMA Church and Ministry Team, and has been Dean of Cluster Six of the CMA, and a delegate to the General Synod of the UCC.
