Celebrating Our New Pastor

Celebrating Our New Pastor

Click above to see more pictures of the installation service of Rev. Lisa M Goods.  The Kenwood sanctuary was filled with well wishers from Pastor Lisa’s home church, Covenant United Church of Christ, United Church of Christ officials, coworkers from Chicago Theological Seminary, family and friends on October 15, 2017 as Rev Lisa was installed as Senior Pastor of Kenwood United Church of Christ.  Music was provided by the Covenant United Church of Christ choir and the Chicago Community Choir (of which Pastor Lisa is a member).  The Covenant UCC praise dancers had the entire congregation riveted with their passionate praise in motion.  Rev. Dr. Adolphus Lacy, pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY and a dear friend of Pastor Lisa’s family, preached the sermon at the morning service and Rev.  Dr. Ozzie Smith, pastor of Covenant UCC provided the sermon at the afternoon installation service.  Rev. Vertie Powers, Associate Conference Minister of the Chicago Metropolitan Association, Conference of the United Church of Christ, presided over the ceremony.  Other participating officiants included Rev. Dr. Frank Thomas, Director of the Academy of Preaching and Celebration at Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis, Indiana, Covenant UCC Associate Pastors Rev. Gwendolyn Kirkland and Rev. Ethel Southern and Rev. Andrea Lasticly from the Congregational Church of Park Manor, UCC.  The theme chosen by Rev. Lisa was “Walking Into Our New Season” and that spirit-filled experience is no doubt an indication of the great things to come for Kenwood United Church of Christ.
